ICON K53161 RXT Stage 1 Rear Suspension System for 2005-2017 Toyota Tacoma

Through thousands of miles of accelerated testing in our R&D program, ICON has spent over a year identifying limiting factors in OE components and seeking to further extrapolate performance out of this vehicle. In a push to provide unparalleled performance for everything from high-speed desert running to off the grid expedition, the RXT Rear Suspension System was born. The RXT Rear Suspension System includes three all-new 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shock options and a multi-rate leaf spring that work in conjunction with the ICON rear bump stop kit. Installation of this system replaces the aforementioned “limiting factors” and completely redefines the potential of the 2005-UP Toyota Tacoma with a 20% increase in wheel travel and the ability to adjust the leaf spring rate to compensate for varying vehicle setups. The RXT Suspension System includes 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks and a multi-rate leaf spring that work in conjunction with the ICON rear bump stop kit for a 20% increase in wheel travel and the ability to adjust the leaf spring rate. APPLICATION NOTE #87: Installation of complete ICON system required to attain advertised wheel travel. Use of any other manufacturers components will not provide advertised wheel travel and could cause unknown damage.

The ICON K53161 RXT Stage 1 Rear Suspension System is engineered for 2005-2017 Toyota Tacoma models seeking improved off-road performance, increased wheel travel, and adjustable suspension tuning. Developed through extensive accelerated testing, this complete rear suspension system addresses limitations in original equipment components and is designed for demanding use ranging from high-speed desert driving to remote overland travel. The system combines ICON 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks, RXT multi-rate leaf springs, and an ICON hydraulic rear bump stop kit for a balanced, vehicle-specific suspension upgrade.
The RXT multi-rate leaf springs provide three user-adjustable spring rates to accommodate different vehicle configurations and cargo loads. When installed with the matching RXT rear shocks, the system can increase rear wheel travel by up to 20% without sacrificing up-travel. Galvanized leaf separators, leaf tip inserts, and a military-wrap front eyelet help reduce friction and noise while supporting durability. The leaf springs install directly into the original equipment spring locations for a straightforward installation.
ICON RXT rear shocks feature corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum bodies, 7/8-inch shafts, and 10-inch aluminum reservoirs that provide increased oil and nitrogen volume for consistent damping as temperatures rise. A side-mounted lower eyelet allows additional travel while retaining the factory mounting location. The shocks are vehicle-specific, fully rebuildable, and revalveable. The hydraulic rear bump stops use position-sensitive technology to increase bottom-out resistance, reduce rear-end kick, and provide smooth engagement with a vehicle-specific tune. They also include a 2.5-inch travel design, serviceable construction, a replaceable noise-reducing striker pad, and a double-sealed Schrader valve with an operating range of 50-250 PSI.
