ICON’s Delta Joint is a heavy-duty high-angle ball joint that combines the durability of a ball joint with the performance characteristics of a traditional uniball. While the industry standard uniball does a great job of allowing the control arms of a vehicle to articulate with little bind, they do have an inherent weakness that leaves more to be desired when used in a daily driven application - exposure to the elements. The Delta Joint’s zinc plated housing provides the first layer of corrosion resistance, while a tough grease seal keeps potentially harmful elements out of the inner workings of the joint. Metal on metal construction and a greaseable design increase the longevity of the Delta Joint while also allowing for noise-free operation. What makes the Delta Joint unique is that it brings the best of both worlds to ICON upper control arms with features that make it more robust than a uniball, and capable of greater angularity than a typical ball joint. It combines the durability and sealed protection of a traditional ball joint with the articulation and performance characteristics of a uniball, making it well suited for lifted trucks and daily-driven applications. The patented ICON Delta Joint delivers greater angularity than a typical ball joint while providing improved protection against road debris, moisture, and corrosion compared with an exposed uniball design.
A zinc-plated housing provides corrosion resistance, while the sealed construction helps keep road salts and other contaminants away from the internal components. Metal-on-metal internals support long-term durability, and the greaseable design promotes smooth, quiet operation while allowing routine service. The carburized taper pin helps reduce internal friction, resist corrosion, and minimize the possibility of thread galling during assembly. Application-specific taper pins provide a precise fit for compatible vehicle platforms, while the joint’s pullout strength exceeds that of comparable industry-standard uniball designs.
This ICON Delta Joint Kit is compatible with select 2005 and newer Toyota Tacoma models, 2007 and newer Toyota Tundra models, 2016 and newer Nissan Titan XD models, and 2019 and newer GM 1500 models.
