ARB Differential Breather Kit

A differential/axle breather serves the important purpose on a 4WD vehicle of venting the air pressure in drivetrain assemblies such as the differential, transmission and transfer cases. Many drivetrain assemblies are fitted with a breather from the factory. These factory breathers are usually a one-way valve mounted directly to the housing or remotely on a short tube. There are many short comings to this style and the ARB Differential Breather Kit is designed to eliminate these by providing a high flow, zero back pressure, zero vacuum breather system. The kit is intended to replace your factory breathers and contains enough fittings and tubing to connect at least two drivetrain assemblies. More tubing and push-in fittings can be purchased separately to connect up to four assemblies to the central manifold. The ARB 170112 Differential Breather Kit is designed to improve ventilation for 4WD drivetrain assemblies, including differentials, transmissions, and transfer cases. Factory breathers commonly use a one-way valve mounted directly to the housing or connected through a short tube. These arrangements can restrict airflow and may allow pressure or vacuum to build as drivetrain temperatures change. This ARB breather system replaces those limitations with a high-flow, zero-back-pressure, zero-vacuum design for more consistent drivetrain ventilation.
The kit includes a central manifold with four breather ports, allowing you to connect from one to four drivetrain assemblies. It includes enough tubing and fittings to connect at least two assemblies, while additional tubing and push-in fittings can be purchased separately when connecting more components. The manifold can be installed in virtually any suitable location, helping simplify routing and organization during a custom 4WD installation. Included hardware consists of push-in fittings, plugs, tubing, screws, cable ties, and an air filter assembly.
Constructed from anodized billet aluminum, the compact ARB manifold is built for dependable service in demanding off-road environments. A splash-resistant air filter helps protect the system while allowing the assemblies to vent properly. The kit is suitable for replacing factory differential breather arrangements on select 1985–1989 Toyota 4Runner applications, including the listed model years.
